Equipment regulations
Equipment regulations for the everyman race
The equipment regulations of the BDR apply. Each participant is responsible for the road safety of their own bike. It is especially important to focus on the functionality of the brakes and other components which are vital for safety. It is not necessary to have lights (except in the 24 h race). Participants who do not have a bike which is considered road safe can be disqualified by the organisers at any time. There are no restrictions as to the gear ratios. The following equipment or bicycle types are expressly inadmissible:
- Disc wheels in the front and/or rear
- Time trial running wheels (“four spokes”)
- Triathlon, horn or delta handlebars
- All types of handlebar extensions (except MTB bar ends)
- All types of bicycle trailers
- Bicycle bags and other additional loads
- Drinking bottles made of glass or other fragile materials
- Unicycles
- Recumbent bicycles
- Tandems (except for separate judging)
- Hand bicycles
Additional regulations for 24h race
A lighting system is mandatory in the night hours of the 24 h bicycle race. From 9.00 p.m. until 6.00 a.m., the lighting system has to be in perfect working order and in use in the front as well as in the rear. Unlit bicycles can be disqualified during the night. Mountainbikes, trekking and city bikes are expressly admitted. However, these will not be judged separately.Equipment regulations for the RTF marathon/Nordschleifen tour
